I am a lifelong resident of the Charlotte Metro area, and I know these towns from living in them.

Where I come from

I spent 30 years in law enforcement before I ever sold a home, and I am a retired Major with the Concord Police Department. In 2015 Cabarrus County Law Enforcement gave me the Robert Jackson Eury Officer of the Year Award. I am a graduate of the 222nd Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and I hold a bachelor’s degree from Pfeiffer University.

For those 30 years, my job was helping people have a safe community.

Why real estate

When I moved into real estate, I wanted to keep doing the same kind of work: helping people troubleshoot problems and get past obstacles when they face a major decision, like buying or selling a home.

Most people make only a few decisions this big in their lives. You should have someone in your corner who explains each step in plain words and never rushes you.

A mistake that changed how I work

Early in my real estate career, I had a buyer on a land purchase where the listing agent never disclosed that it sat in a flood zone. I did not catch it either.

Now every deal I work gets an extensive material facts checklist, so nothing gets missed, even when someone else drops the ball.

When a deal gets hard

One of my sellers bought a second home and had six months to sell the first one before both mortgages started. The first contract fell apart after the inspections. Back on the market with the clock running, we had one real chance left: a buyer who was nervous about the repairs.

The sellers were under a lot of stress. I worked with contractors and a structural engineer, negotiated the repairs, and guided them to closing in time.
